This 2,000 watt fiber laser cutter is a high-precision machine that increases our ability to better serve our clients’ architectural needs. The laser cutting process is meticulous - its speed and versatility are unparalleled. This is proven through its ability to cut through 5’ x 10’ sheets of 20-gauge steel at 18 meters (708.66” or 59.06’) per minute with precise detail.
How does it work? CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) laser cutters are, in fact, controlled by computers. After the designer has created a blueprint for the idea, it is loaded on the laser cutter’s system to cut. Cutters have various settings such as power, speed and frequency, which can be changed based upon the project’s needs. When cutting steel, the laser cutter head moves over the material in the desired shape or design, melting the metal. Its very small heat-affected area yields quality cuts, creating intricate shapes and designs. During this process, high-pressure nitrogen is used to blow the molten metal out of the kerf, keeping the material clean and the cut’s quality exceptional.
